Dieselcraft Technol 246 Sludge Dispersant

Technol 246 is a Dieselcraft additive for sludge in diesel tanks. Here is where to find it and how much to use.

Where to buy

Dieselcraft sells factory direct and lists regional sales phone lines. Ask them for the 5 or 55 gallon drums. Marketplace listings mostly carry the 8 ounce bottle and 1 gallon jug.

Professional insight

Diesel mechanics check the tank bottom first. They size a Technol 246 order to gallons stored.

  • Dose by fuel on hand, not tank capacity.
  • The 1 gallon jug's measuring chamber cuts dosing mistakes.
  • Pull a tank bottom sample before and after treatment.
  • Order spare fuel filters with the additive.

Technol 246 targets the sludge layer at the bottom of diesel tanks. Dieselcraft says it breaks that sludge into fine particles. Those particles can then pass through filters and injectors.

The maker says most bottom waste becomes burnable fuel again.

Calculator

  1. 1Check how many gallons of diesel the tank holds now.
  2. 2Work out the dose with the calculator above.
  3. 3Pour Technol 246 in before refueling so new fuel mixes it.
  4. 4Keep spare fuel filters ready for the first few weeks.
  5. 5Change filters once loosened sludge starts to clog them.
  6. 6Test a fuel sample from the tank bottom afterward.

Before you buy

  • Technol 246 is meant for diesel tanks, not gasoline engines.
  • It treats sludge already in the tank, not just new fuel.
  • Free water at the tank bottom should be drained first.
  • Match the container size to your total stored gallons.
  • Dieselcraft also sells fuel test kits and water separators.
  • Emission and mileage gains are maker claims, not independent tests.

Red flags

  • Listings with no Dieselcraft name on the label.
  • Bottles sold loose or refilled in plain containers.
  • Sellers promising engine repairs from the additive alone.
  • Treat ratios on the listing that differ from the maker label.
  • Drums shipped without a safety data sheet.

Common questions

What does Technol 246 actually do?
It disperses diesel tank sludge into particles small enough to burn. Dieselcraft says it also helps stop new microbial growth.
How much Technol 246 does a 100 gallon tank need?
About 2.9 ounces, using 8 oz per 275 gallons.
Why do my filters clog after treatment?
Loosened sludge moves into the fuel stream at first. Have spare filters on hand during the first tanks.
Can I buy Technol 246 in bulk?
Yes. Dieselcraft lists 5 gallon and 55 gallon containers. Contact the maker for drum orders.
Does Technol 246 replace tank cleaning?
Not always. Heavy water or rust may still need draining or polishing.
